Ideas for Packing when You Move - Associated Content

Moving can be a stressful time and the one thing that adds to that stress is packing. Packing can be considered a chore and is something that is not fun to do. Is it better to pack up yourself or have a moving company
pack up for you?

Packing up to move will be less expensive if you do it yourself. If cost doesn't matter then have a moving company do it, just make sure that they are packing things up correctly. Try to watch the movers if you can. It's better to have things packed correctly then find them broken when they arrive at the destination.

If you pack up and move yourself, you will be more in control of your belongings. Here are some ideas for packing that will help keep your belongings safe while your moving.

1. Use Blankets and Sheets for Empty Spaces - wrapping your breakable items in blankets, sheets, pillowcases and even clothing can help prevent your belongings from getting broken. You can also use the blankets, sheets and clothing to put in between items you have boxed up. These areas are called empty spaces and when these areas are filled they can prevent items from shifting in the box and bumping into each other. There is no cost involved when you pack using blankets and other items you have around the house.

2. Use Sturdy Boxes for Kitchen Items - when you get boxes for kitchenware items make sure they are sturdy and will hold heavier things. If the boxes are not heavy enough to hold your kitchen items, this might cause the boxes to collapse or break. To prevent this from happening make sure to only fill the boxes with enough pots, pans and other items that will make it easy for you to carry. This will make less strain on you and your boxes. Wrap anything that is breakable.
