Aquabotix Technology Corporation is transitioning from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth?s Advanced Technology and Manufacturing Center and establishing its corporate headquarters elsewhere in Fall River.
Aquabotix, a technology company specializing in submersible vehicles and underwater viewing systems, is moving its office and research and development staff to Commonwealth Landing, 1080 Davol St., in October. It is aided by a $400,000 loan from the Fall River Office of Economic Development. The company plans to create many quality jobs, including marketing, engineering and manufacturing, over the next several years, according to a FROED press release.
FROED President Paul Medeiros commended Aquabotix for its innovative product line and commitment to Fall River noting, ?We are thrilled Aquabotix chose to remain in Fall River and will utilize the services of our office," FROED President Paul Medeiros said in a written statement. "Aquabotix has an impressive product line and a strong commitment to providing quality jobs to our community, which makes them a great asset to Fall River.? The company?s first two products will be launching at the Newport International Boat Show, Sept. 15 to 18. The backpack size Hydroview is a lightweight, remote operated underwater vehicle with a high definition video camera and LED lights that is controlled using your iPad, iPhone, Android phone or laptop. The AquaLens is a portable underwater viewing system with live video feed and LED lights that attaches directly to a boater's hook. Both products will be initially targeted to the recreational boating industry, for underwater inspections of hulls, moorings and anchors, and the opportunity to explore the underwater world. Aquabotix plans to continue to bring innovation to the underwater world with two additional product launches planned for the next year, according to FROED.
"Our business is bringing innovation to the underwater world, which makes Commonwealth Landing a perfect fit with its waterfront location and exciting, cool vibe that will help inspire our employees," Aquabotix President and CEO Durval Tavares said in a written statement.
Aquabotix Technology Corporation is a privately funded company created in 2011 to develop consumer and commercial products for underwater observation and exploration. The company?s vision is to become the leading global provider of robotics for undersea applications.
