The Movers Club encourages children to walk, run or ride 30 minutes each day and has set a goal to reach the 300,000 mile mark in one month. Local schools are welcome to join the program.
In addition to the extra physical activity, students and parents are encouraged to donate new or gently used sports equipment ? basketballs, baseballs, gloves and other items ? to Two Men and a Truck?s office at 4439 Westroads Drive in West Palm Beach.
?We?re taking a fun approach to an issue that has become very serious,? said Katie Rexrode, Two Men and a Truck media relations/communications manager, referring to the fact that childhood obesity has tripled in the past 30 years.
?With 23 locations across Florida, we felt if the franchisees pooled together we could make a positive impact on the health of our kids while reinforcing the programs at Boys & Girls Clubs at the same time. Even if it?s a small impact in our first year, it?s a move in the right direction.?
Two Men and a Truck will provide teachers and parents with instructions and an activity workbook to track time spent exercising (riding, running or walking).
